Neglected Musicals will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL for limited performances at the Foundry Theatre from 15 October.
This 1945 musical (the second from the creators of Oklahoma!) follows Billy Bigelow, a swaggering, carefree carnival barker, as he falls in love with and marries the sweet but naive Julie Jordan. CAROUSEL is a stunning tale of hope, redemption, and the power of love.
The original Broadway production opened on 19 April 1945, featuring the musical theatre classics If I Loved You, June Is Busting Out All Over, and You’ll Never Walk Alone. The 1956 movie version starred Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones.
Directed by Lisa Callingham, this will be Neglected Musicals 35th presentation. Neglected Musicals will present the show with scripts in hand and piano accompaniment - after just one day of rehearsal.
