First at the Foundry

Tim Minchin is a songwriter, singer, pianist, actor, writer, comedian, and producer, and now, he can add theatre-launcher (yes, it’s the official term) to his impressive resume as he opens Foundry Theatre with the appropriately titled, Tim Minchin – First at the Foundry.

First at the Foundry is a unique opportunity to see Tim and his band playing an eclectic selection of tunes from his wide-ranging back-catalogue in a brand new, really small, really great venue. Playing a strictly limited season only at the Foundry Theatre.

As one of Australia’s most renowned theatre performers and creators, Tim is stoked to be part of bringing a new commercial theatre to Sydney that can host the next generation of theatre makers, theatre artists and theatre goers.

Tim says: ‘The opening of a new theatre is a rare and wonderful thing, and I was stoked that the legendary theatre-builder Stephen Found asked me to be the canary in the coalmine. Or the champagne bottle shattering on the hull. Or the mohel removing the foreskin of the… anyway, you get my drift. Stoked.’

What time do I need to arrive before a show?

We recommend that you arrive at least 15-30 minutes before the performance starts – or earlier if you would like to enjoy a drink in one of the theatre’s licensed bars.

What if I'm late and the performance has started?

Live theatre has a ‘lock-out’ policy; a period after the curtain goes up when late-comers are not permitted to enter the auditorium. Lock-out periods are set by the production and vary from show to show. Patrons arriving late will be admitted when there’s a suitable break in the performance.
